Me : Huh, its dry isn't it?
Lady: See its darker.
Me : Uh, thats because some time ago they tarred the road
Lady: Oh....

Sleepy driving conversations
Of late I have been reaching home from 9.30 - 10.00 pm everyday. Sometimes I wonder am I so sleepy that I'm hearing things or is my companion really saying these words during our drive back from office.
Case 1: (approx 9.30 pm)
Lady :That day I watch an old Chinese series where the girls plait their hair Yada yada yada.....
Me : Oh, you mean those series based on olden times in China where they work in the field for a living
Lady : yea yea, those days, the girls were all so pretty la...
Me : Haha, well those you saw on tv are actresses from this era anyway, goodness knows what the real olden days girls looksed like.
Lady : Huh? But this show is really very old already!
Me : Uh, so?
Lady : Isnt this series filmed in the past?
Me : Huh? What filmed in the past? Its probably filemed a few years ago I guess.
Lady : Ohhh, I thought they filmed them during their everyday lifes like 100 years ago or something
Me : (*sweat)Uh...I dont think they had colour video then. Besides, you can see quite clearly that they are all acting wut.
Lady : Oh but it looks so real la.
Me : -_- (Mentally banging my head agaisnt car window)
Case 2 : (9.50 pm )
Lady : Look at the lanterns hung up! They look so pretty at night
Me : Yea, every year they hang up the same lanterns
Lady : They are so bright ah?
Me : Uh yea, got electricity to power the bulb inside then sure bright la
Lady : Eh, they use electricity ar?
Me : Otherwsie how they get lighted up?
Lady : But I saw some that dont use electricity before !
Me : Uh, you mean glow in the dark ones? Or those using candle?
Lady : Hm, not using candle, but they shine brightly anyway. They look just like the ones we passed by
Me : Uh..ok.. (resumes driving)

From kota rendah to bukit tinggi (1 Jan 2006)
Finally, for the first time in goodness knows how long, a REAL holiday ! Originally we had planned this trip for December, but with xmas preparations and all, it didn't work out. So on new years day, we gathered at my friends house to begin our journey up bukit tinggi.

After all the hustle and bustle and waiting for the late ones, we began our journey

Everyone was very excited. The van was almost shaking due to our noise. There were 12 of us in the van and another 5 in another car. Pity the van driver, it must have been headache for him listening to the sakais hooting behind him.

A sign that we have reached bukit tinggi! Everyone turned their heads and the same time and yelled "HORSES!" All our cameras pointed at them and started clicking, it was only a few seconds, but I managed to capture them from the window. Only after I previewed the pic I realized the riders were actually waving at us, amused at the reactions of these kampung people.

We stopped by at the resort to get our apartment keys. They have a nice fountain. This is part of it.

Here we are at the apartments, they look pretty !

I skip the luggage unloading part to show you the pics of inside the apartment and the view from the balcony.

Ahh, white clouds, fresh air.... I'm on vacation !

You can seer that we were well prepared for this trip

Complimentary pizzas ! There were 6 of em !!! YUMMM Its all thanks to Uncle Yap

All aboard the shuttle to visit the places in bukit tinggi. Can you spot me and YSlim in the pic?

We didn't visit the tea house but we did pass by. We spent about 2 hours in the botanical garden though

The flowers were very nice. There are too many pics to post so I wont post up the pics we took in the "forest" part of the gardens.
At 7 pm, it started to rain. We rushed to the shuttle boarding area. That was when all the rude Malaysians cut our queue to board the shuttles. After almost an hour, we were still waiting for the shuttle! In the end, cold and wet, we finally reached our apartment in time for......

TOM YAM Steamboat !!

Yea we had the non tom yam one too, hehe....

After that we had a round of cranium. Check out http://Ypfrules.blogspot.com for more pics of us playing the game.
After the hilarious game was over, some of them went to take baths and some played chess. Having nothing better to do, some of us went for a walk...and also to take some stupid pics of ourselves.

This is only one out of many. Apparently the wannabe Harry potter fans are trying to transmogrify the stuffed toy into something....
Thus concluded our first night at bukit tinggi. It was a very long night... Sleeping 6 people on one bed is no joke. My legs didn't want to wake up in the morning.
Day 2
Sore and aching, we woke up to a beautiful and cold morning

We headed to the bukit tinggi resort for our buffet breakfast. They have the models of all the resorts n buildings in bukit tinggi on display. Kinda cool

This is the miniature model of Colma
Actually the buffet was nothing special, not comparable to buffet breakfast at KL or PJ hotels.

In the dining area, their xmas deco was still up.
After breakfast, we headed to Colma for sightseeing

Actually there wasn't much to look at so me and a few friends spent most of the time feeding the swans and trying to touch them without getting pecked to death.

Swans are below this bridge

White swan

Black swan

Black swan vs white swan. Apparently they hate each other. They were trying to attack each other through the wire earlier on.
Next stop was rabbit park. I should have brought my own rabbit food. RM1 for about 15 rabbit pellets. Back home rm 3 can buy a whole bag adi. Sigh, I guess that's how they make their money. Most of the bunnies were friendly and laid back, not like my hyper duo back home. Of course mine are in better condition too, its sad they don't take the trouble to treat the bunnies with open sores and wounds. Typical of petting zoos. My cam had run out of battery so this pic is taken by my friend:

2 bunnies in the rabbit farm
That was our last stop. After that we headed back to the apartments to pack up and get ready for the journey home. One of the last pics I took before we got back.

Tree version of KL tower. IT looked pretty weird at night, like some mysterious luminous tower. Can;t get a shot of it at night, the pic comes out pitch black. So I took a pic of it in the daylight just before we left.
The journey back home was the opposite of the journey up. Everyone was sleeping and too tired to talk much. That comes with sleeping at 3 am on crowded beds I guess. Farewell Bukit Tinggi, we now continue our mundane lives at Kota Rendah... City of traffic jam and hot weather.

Happy bday to u, u went to the zoo....
Yup, I actually went to the zoo to celebrate my birthday, though it didnt really turn out as expected bcoz "someone" was busy working. But that won't happen again, RIGHT? hahaa...anyway 3 of us ended up at the once KFC endorsed zoo negara. We noticed the abandoned KFC building was overrun by storks. I wonder what else has made their home inside...
Despite the rain and all it was pretty fun. Here are some pictures

hmm, what is this trap doing in the middle of the zoo? Maybe something has escaped.... and they didnt want to alarm the visitors, so they quietly set up a trap..there's a chunk of meat hanging inside too.

Ah, the bad hair day bantam, it was more friendly compared to the rest, the only one that doesnt run away when we try to touch it. The feathers were very soft.

The cute but evil goat. Do ask steffi for the evil goat video. We thought it was being affectionate but actually it was trying to kill us.

Uruk hai fan? Maybe the monkey has watched too much LOTR

Deodorant companies should make him their poster boy.
We took many more pics but I have not uploaded them yet,hehe...

King Kong (Spoiler Warning)
Yesterday was my day off. I took that opportunity to catch up with one of my old pals and also went to watch King Kong with her. Surprisingly a lot of traffic for a weekday outside the mall. We arrived 5 minutes too late to get our reserved ticket, but there were plenty of seats left after all.
The commercials went on and on until 15 minutes past the screening time stated on the ticket. Finally the show started. For a moment there I thought we had entered the wrong cinema, coz there were these charlie chaplin imitators prancing around on a stage. I took a while for me to remember King Kong's original setting was in that era. I actually expected it to take place in the modern era this time. Oh well....
Anyway, the show really exceeded expectations in terms of graphics and action. The dino vs Kong part was good, but the logic was way off. As if a dino happily gorging itself on a big hunk of meat would abondon its meal and do anything just to chomp a tiny human girl. Another part was when the dinos were half dead and tangled in vines off a cliff...yea, they could only think off chomping the girl and straining their last reserves of life to reach her despite the Kong pounding on their heads. Right... real logical....
As for the girl...well she showed promise in the beginning with an interesting personality and all... the she turned into a complete flop at the end of the movie. The ending was completely draggy. Kong gets shot by planes, girl cries and gets into Kongs way, Kong puts girl in safe place, girl climbs out again and gets into trouble, Kong saves girl and puts her back into safe place, girl gets out again... repeat repeat repeat until the last scene where girl and Kong stare at each other with sad faces. Repeat the plane shoots Kong and sad staring faces part a few more times..and the story ends....FINALLY. You cant expect people that have been sitting in a cinema for more than 3 hours and with full bladders to endure that type of ending comfortably. Me and my friend were like...."If you want to die, please..please just die... stop staring at each other already..." and "Haiyoh, that girl...keep crying and crying only..." If they had cut the ending part by half, it would have been much more acceptable...
Anyway I still think the movie is worth a watch, so for those of you who have nnot watched it, go knock yourselves out

I'm 22 for a moment....
Well after being sick for 1.5 weeks, I'm finally officially 22. Everyone goes like, oh you are still young, go chase your dreams, do whatever you want while you have the chance....I wish I was your age, yada yada.....
I maybe only be 22, but I feel old and jaded already. The world is changing, and not really in a good way either. I wonder how will things be like when I'm 40. Even now people are changing their gender until you cant tell who was originally what, little kids are killing their parents during their tantrums and and what not. Kids watch cartoons that I cringe at. Those with eyeballs being pulled out and tongues getting sawn off. Yikes, I really wonder what kind of people will they grow up to be. I'm starting to fear for my life, haha....
Kind of nostalgic to receive calls and sms from people that were once part of my daily life, but that I have not met for a long time. Its nice to remember the good times we had together, but sad that it probably will never happen again. I tend to keep thinking of "what was" instead of "what is". Must learn to appreciate what I have now instead of looking back.
I find myself still waiting for something to happen, something that will take me away from the mundaneness of daily life, something that will prod me to pack my bags and go seek my dreams. In the end I'm sure it is we ourselves who will make things happen. Its not much use just sitting and waiting. Oh well......there is always the hope that 1 million dollars will drop on my head someday, haha...yea right, dream on la....
Ok, enough of that, back to work ! :p

A Salty Lunch
Today my colleague A suggested that we go SS2 for lunch in his car. Now we were wondering how come he was so generous to offer to drive us there. Then in the car, J said , "Hah, you are going to SS2 to pay your car saman ! I knew you weren't that good to fetch us to SS2 for no reason" Then A was like " Yaya...." So we went looking for parking, and managed to find a place. Then A said, ok you guys go ahead, we eat at this shop la..I go and pay my saman 1st... with that, A took off in a hurry.
That was when V said, "What else is there to eat around here"? Then my senior said there was nothing much, but if he wanted we would walk around and see. So we walked and walked. Then J whispered to us "Actually V does not want to eat porridge..." Then my senior told him,"Eh, there got rice also u know..." V was like, "hmmm ok....anything la" but he kept on walking. So we followed him until wewere quite far away from where we parked. We ended up at this certain shop that sells noodles and fried rice. Then we made a call to A to ask him to meet us there.
Now the pony tailed shop owner came to take our order. One look at his sour face made us wonder if we had made the right decision in coming. Before we could finish making out orders, he went away. We started looking at each other... Then I told them, uh, I have not ordered yet... THen they said, "hmm..he seems tob e in a bad mood today la that owner.." When the fella came back with the drinks, I gave him my order, and he gave me this withering look that seemed to say " How dare you waste my time by ordering late , you low life!" I mean who could talk to a face like that? I was like stammering away..."Uh..I want.... Ngua lam noodles...." Then he snapped " What noodle ??!!" I was like "uhhh...kuey teow..." Then he took off. V made us laugh by imitating his "What noodle??!!" speech over and over.
OK, here comes the food. V took one sip of his soup and went "Urghh, its soo salty !!" Yea actually my soup was salty too. So we were eating and A came back. A lady came to take his order.
Waitress : What would you like?
A: (Looks at V's food) Hmm, I'll have this one la
V: (Mouth full of food) *shakes head vigorously at A
Rest of us: *trying to contain our laughter
A: Yea, I'll have what he is having
V: Almost chokes on his food trying to convey the "NOOOOO!!!!" message
Waitress (Looking at V's strange actions) Uh..ok... this dish is very nice one, good choice !
Rest of us: (could not contain laughther anymore) AHAHAHAHHAAHA hAHAHHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHA
Waitress: *Leaves the bunch of giggling fools(us)
A: What are you all laughing about? And V, what were you trying to do?
Rest of us : *faint from laughther overdose "WHY U SO BLUR ONE ! "
V complained that he shook his head until it hurt but still A could not get the message. Hopeless.......After that we had a good time reacting the scene over and over until A threatened to make us walk home. That didnt stop us from reacting the scene once we were in his car. :p

The though provoking jelly bean
Today my friend gave me a few jelly beans from Australia. As I chewed on that bean on the way to work, a thought struck me. This bean I'm currently chomping was in Australia, it was in places that I have never set foot in before..and now it has travelled all the way to Malaysia to get eaten by me. As I rolled the unfortunately bean in my mouth, savouring the sweet taste, I pondered on the bean's fate. Then I started pondering on my own fate. Obviously my life would have been different if I had gone to a different school, joined a different intake at college.... Where would I be now if I had taken a different course or if my family had moved to Rawang as we originally planned to?
My dad told me to take another course. What will happen if I take it? What will happen if i don't? Hmm, life is like those picture books that I liked to read when I was a kid. Those that go like,. To go down this Path turn to page 5, to stay there and wait turn to page 10. Eventually only certian paths lead to a happy ending.
I'm Jasmine, 22 years old, Analyst Programmer. Where does my future lie?

Return from a fairly long break
Back to work again. A BIG SIGH..... Back to hearing everyones holiday stories, while I myself was stuck in KL, mostly at home too. Well anyway I watched 3 movies in a single day, 1 in cinema and another 2 on VCD.
Show 1- Sound of thunder
Comments - Lousy vcd, something wrong one. Show also like errrrr, nothing special and a bit fake.
Show 2 - Corpse bride

See the fella there? The story is about how he has to choose between those 2 ladies there. Difference being that one has a pulse and one does not. You see he was supposed to marry the one in the 2nd pic, but messed it up and got sort of married to the one in the 1st pic instead. Kinda funny actually, that story. One line I remember from the movie goes something like.. "Being alive is only a temporary state" which was what the corspe bride's friend was telling her regarding her so called rival (The guys real bride). Come to think of it, its rather true... all of us are only living in temporary bodies, in a temporary world...
Show 3 - Curse of the were rabbit

Comments - Well I'm not quite a fan of those plasticin shows but this one is funny actually. Its about this pest control fella and his dog working hard to protect the villager's prize veggies for the veg competition. Then something went wrong with one of his experiments and out pops this were rabbit. I love the doggie, he's just too cute.

Do you know me?
If you are my friend, how many of the below do you actually know about me?
1. I'm a computer programmer. Amazing for someone who never passed her Add Maths until SPM and can't divide a food bill with government tax among 5 people.
2. I still look at the keyboard while typing and still type with 6 fingers (sometimes 3) despite having had a computer since I was 12.
3. I don't do housework unless you count cleaning up after my 2 royal bunnies. Then again its not in the house but outside.
4. I suffered from mild obsessive compulsive disorder when I was around 5 years old. It lasted for quite a few years until I lost the need for washing my hands 10 times a night. I still occasionally touch the corners of my bed before I sleep at night though.
5. There were 7 tanks of fish in my house at one point. At another point there were at least 20 hamsters. And I could tell all of them apart and knew each one of them. The fishes too.
6. I kept a diary since I was about 11. The first few entries included illustrations of my stray dog friends.(The illustrations are truly horrible)
7. When I was younger I could whistle any tune with my mouth closed. I still wonder how I was able to do that as I had lost the ability to do so when I hit secondary school.
8. I share the same birthmark as my dad. It’s somewhere on my tummy.
9. I wanted to be an artist when I was young. Looking at my past drawings makes me wonder how I ever got that idea.
10. I love computer games, PS games and anime. People go like.. but you are a girl ! And I go like, and so?
11. I must have tomato sauce with my KFC mashed potatoes. Guess what else I do to it before I eat it?
12. I don’t eat tomatoes, cucumbers, pineapple or watermelon.
13. And most amazingly for those of you that know me.. I used to have a very good sense of direction regarding roads when I was in kindergarten. I was also one of the top students there. Now, what has happened to me since then to totally twist all that ingenuity? I can’t even find my way out of a parking lot and I was a bottom feeder in class since primary school. I think it might have the trauma of suddenly switching to a Chinese school and being forced to learn an alien language. The effort must have killed off many of my brain cells. God knows.....

The blogger intro
This is an intro of my blogger friends,
the wacky fellas in my life.
The people that God sends
to create chaos, fun and strive.
First of all there is Steffi.
You could say she is rather wacky.
She likes guys that are sexy,
especially ang mohs rich and classy.
Then after that there is Ash,
better known as Lord Krakrash.
He likes watching WWF guys bash.
With all the ladies he is a smash.
Where is YS the programmer?
The first class guy and genius debugger.
But then we all seldom see this fella.
Dunno how long he hasn't been on Blogger.
Chun eng the lion dancer,
always quick to give a sarcastic answer,
especially when someone makes a blunder.
If he doesnt do that then its a wonder.
Philip is our vege and fruit eater,
and also a die hard carnivore basher.
He always claims Java is cooler,
But we all know much better.
Thus concludes the bloggers intro.
Hope all that was useful info.
When you see them you will know,
that what I typed isn't just for show.
* In response to a challenge by Lord Krakash. Hope you guys enjoyed it =p

Not the best way to start the week
Sunday :-
Mum : Lets go eat mamak
Me : Dowan, later food poisoning on monday
So me and sisters went to eat McD..
Monday :-
After tossing and turning on the bed at 6.30 am, finaly realised my stomach was going crazy. Argh !
Left for office at 7.30..unfortunately on the way out my stomach went crazy again. Nooooooo ! Thank God for petrol stations. I pulled over at one n went in. Now this particulat station has an indoor toilet. I know coz I have used it b4 in the past. So I entered n headed to the loo side. I turned the knob.... eh? It wont open... both of the toilet doors seem to be locked. So I went to ask the cashier.. Uh, can I use the toilet? The lady didnt even look my way as she mumbled something. I was like huh? I waited (as patiently as I could, considered the tummy ache) for her to finish counting a stack of money, then repeated my question. Without looking at me still, she mumbled something that souned like, "ada orang di dalam." Well fine then, so I went to stand in front of the loo again. Minutes later, the doors were still closed. no sign of activity whatsover inside, the light doesnt even seem to be on inside... Fine, since there was another petrol station just next to this one, I decided to try my luck there.
Later on, as what my friend told me, most probably the lady did not want the customers to use the toilet as it was meant for staff. Geez, at least she could have told me "you cant use the toilet" or "toiet only for staff" or "I have no energy to unlock the door bcoz of puasa" , its better than saying "ada orang" and making me standing in front of locked doors like an idiot.
Ok,at the next petrol station, I FINALLY got to use the loo.... upon getting out, my friend in the car was kinda like freaked out, guess what happened? I cant belive it either. Let me tell u the story from the eyes of a passerby :
Guy parked at petrol station was reading his newspaper. Suddenly he notices a lady in distress. She dashed out of the car she was sitting in, and then she was pressing both hands to the car and pushing, while frantically looking around. Upon meeting the guys gaze, she called him to help her. Curious, he went over to her.
Man: yes?
Lady: The car is moving, stop it! Help me !
Man: uh ok
(Man opens front door and pulls handbrake)
Lady: Thank you ! You saved me !
(Lady gets back into passenger seat of car)
Man: -_-
And that is what happened, said the lady that car pools with me everyday. Aparently I forgot to pull my handbrake.
Me: Why didnt u pull the handbrake? You also learn drivng b4 ma.
Lady: aiyo so long ago, cant remember adi la
Me: Uh, u actually got out of the car to tahan it
Lady: yalo, that was the only way i knew to stop a moving car
Me: -_-|||

A sleepy evening in the office
Senior: (gets up from my colleagues place behind me)
Me: "Eh wait, don't go back yet, I want to ask you something"
(As I was talking she was walking back to her place, so I was chasing after her)
Senior: (Seats herself at her place and looks at me puzzled) "Uh, I won't be going back yet."
Me: (*thinking Uh, but you are already back at your seat...) "Har?"
(We both stare at each other for a while)
Senior : "Its only 5 pm now, too early to go home ma"
Me: -_-

My Mid Autumn Festival
"Ok, here's our plan... we'll light up lanterns and give XXxxx a surprise by singing in front of his house while waving the lanterns !" And so we set off, initialising mission impossible IV. We parked our car one street away ans start to light the lanterns... Ok, now I was balancing 2 lanterns and one handbag, and we were just about to set of when.... (music plays...) eh, my hand phone was ringing... My friend helped to extract the hp from my bag and was holding it to my ear..
Hmm, an unknown number...
Me: Hello? (My friends crapping away in the background noisily)
Unknown: (Muttering.....)
Me: Huh?
Unknown ( thesh ... sthn....bla bla...)
Me: um, who is this?
Unknown: Steffi here ar... my internet connection ........(cracking sound of static)
Me: Uh, Steffi, right now im balancing 2 lanterns, which are burning, and my friend is holding my handphone to my ears.. can we talk later?
Steffi: Oh, ok....
(******Short Slilence*******)
Steffi: Are you driving?
Me: (-_-')
In the end, we made a fool out of ourselves singing in front of my friends house.. the maid opened the gate and said..tuan sudah tidur, yang lain telah pergi rumah kawan..... O.o

Me burning my lantern after it has fulfilled its purpose..MuaHhahaa!

The real path to success?
Was just listening to the radio again this morning. Their topic was about the cost of living and salary... The DJ's commented about girls that never study but spend all day flirting with guys, making themselves pretty and yakking away in class. In the end they get married to rich guys and spend their days lepakking in Bangsar, while the hardworking and studious girls slog away at their low paying jobs.
Somehow, it does sound rather true to me. Even if they don't get a rich husband, they can still do pretty well at sales jobs , hairdressing, etc etc... Seriously I think that looking decent, being able to give good advice and being good at communicating with others are ways to make it big in life. On the other hand, even if you do pretty well in studies, you might just end up in some office serving an ungrateful boss, that exploits you to the max.
I mean as of now, even those of my friends that didnt make to college are doing pretty good in their jobs/businesses now. Even those that were sleeping through college and making the rest of us suffer are doing fine. I seriously think that either fate is cruel or there is something wrong with our education system.
