The transportation

Bus ride

Going to redang - Left just before midnight and arrived around 7.30 am at Kuala Terengganu. Made a few stops in between at rest stops so that we could use the loo/ grab a quick bite. Me = painful neck

Coming home - The longest ride in my life. We stopped for lunch and also dinner. Boarded the bus at 2 something pm May 01. We finally reached home at 2 something a.m May 02 -_-. I was almost dead by then and had no problems sleeping till 11 a.m. the next day.

Ferry

Ferry to redang - The horror of horrors. My first experience of being violently seasick. Its the small covered type of ferry not the huge ones that accomodate cars. The first thing the staff did was to pass out plastic bags. Not everybody took the bags. It was raining and the ferry was swaying left and right... after that it picked up speed... then it started bobbing up and down. After imagining myself riding on a dinosaur to take my mind offf reality, I lost it 15 minutes before reaching our destination. Well..so did a few others. It would have been funny if I wasn't so ill. Half the passengers were hanging onto to poles at the middle of the boat with pale faces. Apparently standing up and looking forward helps with the seasickness. Well it didnt quite work for me. Upon arrival to Redang the welcome drink was "shuen mui" drink. Ahh.... never tasted anything better.

Singing a song before boarding the Ferry of doom for the return trip.

Ferry back from Redang - Everyone took seasickness pills. Everyone took the plastic bags handed out. Everyone avoided the side seats. Sweets/shuen mui were passed around. Some aunties had ta pao-ed orange juice or other sour drinks. We all took a deep breath and the journey started..it started to drizzle..we braced for the worst..... Surprisingly the trip was very smooth. No extreme swaying or bobbing. No one got sick. Phew.....

Boat to deep sea snorkelling/ marine park - For the deep sea snorkelling on day 1, the boat was swaying like crazy when we reached the snorkelling area. A few people were feeling sick including myself. We quickly got into the water. I think we had not recovered from the hellish ferry ride yet. The marine park boat ride was slightly better. Advice for those who dont want to get into the water for deep sea snorkelling... if you dont plan to snorkel, don't go at all. You wont last 10 minutes on that swaying boat without throwing up. My friend told me some parents learned that the hard way. They went just to monitor their kids. The marine park different story coz you can stay on the beach.

The food

YUM. Buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday at Laguna. Everyday they had slightly different food. Dinners were the best though. Great view of the sea from the restaurent. Let the pictures do the talking.

Satay & Lekor were good!

Mango pudding and uh... I'm not sure what it is but its like cake with the sauce you get on bread pudding. Nice.... The kuih not bad either.

Every lunch time they have fish, beef, chicken and lamb cooked in various styles.

They had rather unique soups. Cream of carrot, chicken lemon soup.... but it was quite good.

no mate... you'll be wearing life jackets... so you'll be floating

hey, why not we all go there one day. I remember suggesting of goin to Sg once to Steph but apparently was way off budget.

Redang would be a cheaper choice.

"do u need to know how to swim in order to go snorkeling?",

ashes, i think the more proper way to ask is
"do u need to know how to float in order to go snorkeling?", haha!

Well, floats would be given to everyone who snorkels, isn't it? So it doesn't matter whether you can swim or not.

Looks like you had a good time...and good meals!
