左右不分 (Can't differentiate between left and right)

Yesterday i decided to go and meet up with my friends in Sunway, despite the fact that I would be driving alone and my ahem... usual driver was overseas and therefore uncontactable. So, armed with a road map and instructions on how to get there, I set off.


Everything was fine until the part that I was supposed to " turn left at the 3 tier bridge" I thought I was supposed to go up the bridge then only take the left lane. Whoops...I ended up going pass the turning to Bandar Sunway. The only thing I could do was turn into Subang jaya and find a popular landmark. Ah... SJMC hospital... ok, I parked my car and called my friend, who gave me directions to get to Sunway from there. Didn't seem too hard... Looks like I would reach in another 5 minutes or so.

Ok, I reached Sunway, the giant lion from Sunway Piramid on my right. Hm... where to turn in? I called my friend again and that's where the left and right problem started.


Friend: Keep 左
Me: ok

Continues driving

Me: er on the right isn't it?
Friend: Har, nono, its 左... Left ar
Me: Oops.... pass adi

Friend: Aiya u pass adi ar, ok never mind, in front got U turn
Me: ok
Friend: ok, u go straight ar, then bla bla bla
Me: okok



Friend: Ok later u keep 左, then ar u turn bla bla
Me: Hmm..going down a tunnel liao wo
Friend, Har, tunnel is on the 右 lar
Me: Oops..... go down adi liao wo
Friend: Aiyoyoo... wait i pass the phone to Jack arr
Me: Ok


Jack: Ok now you need to U turn
Me: Ok, U turn is on the left or right?
Jack:左
Me: ......Uh.... ok (brain thinking "左 is left or right adi ar?")
Jack: by the way, I think the U turn is after the road goes down a slope
Me:.... I just passed it by
Jack Oh....


Well, I ended up going pass the toll , going all the way toward PJ old town, then going past the toll again. I actually stopped int he middle of the roads divider in order to confirm the directions. That was when my friend accidentally gave me the wrong directions by asking me to take the leftmost lane. I ended up back on the federal where I went wrong in the first place. Finally I made it to Sunway, and I made one last call.


Me: ok I think I'm nearby already. Do I U turn here? The signboard says bla bla bla
Friend: Ei it does ar...hmm.....
Me:......
Friend: Lemme pass the phone to Jack again.

Jack: What do you seee around you?
Me: Uh... Traffic Light, thats all, nothing else
Jack: Errrr
Me: The sign board says go straight is bla bla, turn right is bla bla, U turn is bla bla
Jack: Err....
Me: aiya the traffic light green adi I just turn lar
Me: Oh, its the right way adi, ok thanks bye bye!



When I finally reached the meeting place


Jack: Next time you tattoo the words left and right, kiri kanan and 左右 on the back on your hand, then you will never go wrong

Me: -_-


Later on my friend was telling me


Friend: Aiya you know lar, since we all so familiar with that road we don't bother to remember what the signboard says adi, so a bit hard to give directions.
Me: Haha ic
Friend: Actually I already realised you can't tell 左右, so all of us were telling Jack, Say left and right! Not 左右!
Me: He kept saying 左右 lar
Friend: Yalor..I think he is not used to saying Left and right la
Me: aih....



On the way home, I actually went the opposite direction.... in a panic i did the most horrible illegal U turn i have ever done in my life. At that point, I was almost ready to go over the divider if I had to, because if I didn't..It looked like I would be heading to Petaling Jaya.... and that was NOT a good thing at 9.30 p.m. Thank God my car is small.....


On another note, my friend's fav hammy and my potential future hammy(right). Cuteness!
